Shea Elizebeth Wright, 26, of South Hurstville, appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, pleading guilty to unlawfully possessing a driver’s licence, stating a false name or home address and driving with a cancelled licence.
Police said Wright was driving on the Princes Highway at Termeil on January 12 when officers were performing a contra-flow due to a tree down on the roadway.
As Wright approached officers and was directed to stop, she ignored police, crossed over to the incorrect side of the road and drove away.
Officers took chase on foot before Wright pulled over a short distance down the road. When asked to produce her driver’s licence, Wright handed police another woman’s licence.
“Asked questions about her identification particulars, her response did not match what was on the driver’s licence, for example, date of birth,” police said.
Wright told officers she had left her licence at home and “didn’t want to get into trouble”.
Magistrate Doug Dick sentenced her to an Intensive Corrections Order for 12 months and fined her $600. She was disqualified from driving for two years.
