Fresh from a stellar 8–17 in rep cricket last Thursday, Greater Illawarra U/14 captain and Batemans Bay 3rd grade opening bowler Lachie Malcolm tore the heart out of the strong Sussex Inlet batting, taking 4 wickets for 5 runs from 7 overs on Saturday.

Malcolm was the ringleader, with fellow more senior bowlers Paul Cullen and Pat Griffin chipping away with vital wickets, with the wily fox Tom Purcell claiming 3.
Third placed Sussex had no answers to the competition leaders’ bowling attack and struggled to be all out 65.
By day’s end, the Bay batsmen had cruised to 2 - 87 , to take a first innings lead. Dave West ( 23 ) opened up with a 41 partnership with James Dickinson. Dickinson batted superbly to be 30 n.o at stumps with skipper Pat Griffin 19 n.o. Griffin is hoping to pile on the pressure with quick early runs next week. He would like to get a good lead and hopes to bowl Sussex Inlet out again. He has the batters and bowlers at his disposal to achieve that goal.
