Dags, a contemporary Australian play by well-known playwright Debra Oswald, will be the Bay Theatre Players’ first production for 2019.

It will be on stage on March 29-31 and April 5-7.
Eighteen young people attended the auditions in December at the Playhouse.
The standard of the young people who auditioned was very high and the director had a difficult time making her final decisions.
Although not everyone was able to be cast, the process provided valuable experience for everyone in audition skills. Everyone who attended is to be congratulated.
The cast of Dags is a mix of old and new faces.
Jorja Scott will play the lead role of Gillian who is struggling with adolescence and trying to find her path in life. Ashleigh Magoffin will play Bronwyn, Gillian’s gung-ho elder sister who has her life in order and has a boyfriend much to the chagrin of Gillian. Will Hooke will play Biggles, Bronwyn's boyfriend.
Gillian’s gossipy girlfriends will be played by Lilly Marion as Monica, a fellow social cripple, Mattea Kelly as Wendy and Mia Johnstone as Karen.
Lily Marion, one of the younger cast members, has a dual role as a mother.
Huon Dufield will play Derek, Biggles’ younger brother, Tyler McNamara will play Tony, rock musician in a band and Patrick Eberle will play Adam, Karen’s boyfriend.
Rehearsals are underway and the theatre is coming to life with the construction of the set and the gathering of props and set dressing.
An experienced backstage and production team has come together for this production.
The Bay Theatre Players offers a variety of ways people can be involved in theatre as well as being members of the audience.

A reminder that the next play reading, Noel Coward’s Nude with Violin is on Wednesday, January 16, at 7pm in the Playhouse Foyer at 33 Gregory Street Batemans Bay.
This is a light comedy set in Paris in 1956 with a plot that has many twists and turns.
