To the group’s delight the number of people walking the course is growing. Many people are using this time to catch up with friends and achieve some exercise at the same time.
So many families come along and run or walk together, sometimes with three generations participating.
The group is grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen on Saturday. They were Anna Hutchinson as run director and helpers Peter Counsell, Tracy Denning, Victoria Hennig, Michael Kennedy, Robyn Kennedy, Neville Madden, Fiona Marveus, Isabella Marveus, Lisa Robbins and Maureen Searson.
The volunteer roster is full for the next few weeks. Bede Webster will be bringing the Broulee Swimmers to take over the volunteer roles on Saturday and in a few weeks Batemans Bay BMX Club will take the reins.
The parkrun is fortunate that clubs and businesses are starting to join in as it is a big help to us and it also introduces others to the benefits of parkrun
A whopping 22 runners and walkers this week achieved personal best times. Congratulations to Jason Keane, Harrison Gilligan, Matt O’Brien, Jason Stegbauer, Andrew Oberg, Stephen Yates, Rohan Dendrinos, Barry King, Chloe Smith, Sam Smith, Matthew Smith, Alice O’Brien, Luxmi Selvakumaran, Mia Mackinstosh, Alan Fitches, Erin Mathieu, Barb Wells, Sophie Wilson, Gaye Smith, Debbie Quinn, Anna Pinder and the ever-impressive Phil Thistlewaite. We hope you all come back each week for improvement and enjoyment.
Our visitors this week came from around Australia and quite a few from overseas.
It is always pleasing to hear them speak so highly of our little piece of paradise here in the Bay. One family came from the Gippsland area of Victoria, and this is their eighth year staying in the Surfside Park and their third at Parkrun.
Hope to see you Saturday at Rotary Park near the Marina on Beach Road at 7.50am for an 8am start.
