Secretary Judy Thomson took this photo on Friday, December 28 on “one of those really hot days”.
The net result was that eighteen players decided to give the thermometer a serve.
In an ace move, Eurobodalla Shire residents had a volley of support from visiting relatives, helping to ratchet up the numbers of people wielding rackets.
“Members and their families from as far away as Melbourne and Tamworth joined to swell the numbers on the courts at Malua Bay Tennis Club during the holiday period,” Ms Thomson said.
“Aged from 17 to 87 years, up to 18 players took turns to play four games before handing on to those waiting.
“Despite those hot days, two hours of competitive tennis ensued before everyone retired for coffee and cool drinks at the local cafe or the Malua Bay Bowlo.
“And then a swim.”
Smart call.
