Magistrate Doug Dick sentenced Batemans Bay woman, Yvette Parsons, 30, in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, December 17, after she pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving and driving while unlicensed.
“Your case is one of the most serious cases to come before the court,” Mr Dick said.
“There were families in the area, children in the area.
“Your reading … it’s a wonder you were even conscious
“There’s also an unlicensed matter which makes it even more serious.”
Despite her guilty plea, Parsons claimed she was not driving at the time.
“I wasn’t driving the car. I was trying to reverse,” she said.
In sentencing, Mr Dick found special circumstances due to Parsons’ alcohol issues. She was jailed for 12 months, with a non-parole period of four months.
She was also fined $800, disqualified from driving and ordered to have an interlock device fitted to her vehicle for two years.
