The rally comes after reports of a recent incident involving a nurse at the hospital.
Whilst the health department and registered nurse declined to comment on specifics of the incident, the incident could be confirmed by Rachael Rogan RN, who made the following statement: “This intervention of 1:3 needs to come from the higher powers ... local nursing management did all they could to keep (staff) safe and with (the) emergency director they continue to fight and lobby for change,” she said.
“It’s money, you cannot just decide to build an extension to your house when the family gets bigger. You need a plan, you need money, and you need time … but now, time is up.”
Nurses and patients are being put at risk at Moruya District Hospital as a result of management’s failure to provide sufficient staffing in the emergency department.

The association said insufficient staffing put nurses and patients at risk.
“Nurses and patients are being put at risk at Moruya District Hospital as a result of management’s failure to provide sufficient staffing in the emergency department (ED),” the association said.
“The Emergency Department is constantly understaffed with only two Registered Nurses employed on each shift.
“The lack of staff means patients are getting minimal care, with ratios as poor as one nurse to 22 patients.
“Nurses from the (association) Moruya District Hospital branch have had multiple meetings with hospital management in an attempt to resolve the staffing issues to no avail, and have run out of patience.”
