It began in February 1988 with 33 members and was formed to encourage riders of all levels. The elected officials were president Fred Wagner, vice-president Ann Behringer, secretary Thea Wagner, treasurer Sue Brown and publicity officer Louise Harry.
Ann Behringer was a driving force behind the club’s formation and is still an active riding member and Equestrian Australia Level 2 general coach.
Thirty years ago she felt there was a need for dressage instruction and education in the Eurobodalla area. The EDA held its first protocol day on August 28, 1988 at the Wagner’s property, Coila Park.
Instructional days then followed and the talented Instructors made a huge impact on the riding of many club members. The annual award scheme for members was implemented in 1991 and the tradition has followed on ever since.
The club’s first official competition was held in November 1990, and included unofficial and official tests for preliminary, novice and official elementary levels.
Irene Adams was elected treasurer in 2000, and still holds this position in the club today.
Recently, Jeff Adams and Ann Behringer competed at the ACT Dressage Association Championships in Canberra.
A lot of preparation goes on within the club to host all these events and all the volunteers are greatly appreciated.
