The 3rd grade side remain unbeaten on top of the table with a good win, while 4th Grade were unlucky to lose a close T20 encounter.

The juniors, meanwhile, had mixed success with a strong win in the U/12s and the U/11s outclassed by Sussex Inlet.

In a make-or-break home game for 2nd Grade, persistent light rain threatened to interrupt proceedings.

Winning the toss, the Bay side elected to bowl first on a pitch that promised early help for the bowlers.

Week-to-week, the young tearaway fast bowlers, Darcy Knight and Mitch Hockey, gain in stature.

The Bay and Basin top order sometimes had no answer for the pace, bounce and movement both youngsters were able to extract from the deck.

Knight finished with 2 for 17 from eight overs, while Hockey took 2 for 29 off his maximum eight overs.

Lachlan Croke continued from his watershed game last week, snaring 3 for 30.

He was ably assisted by right arm off spinner, Lachlan Paterson, who took 1 for 21 from four overs.

Josh Lee and Brad Hancock each picked up a wicket and constantly threatened the opposition batsmen.

Bay and Basin were bowled out just shy of their 40 overs for 159.

S Brooks defied the Batemans Bay bowlers with a hard-hitting 42 not out. He was ably assisted by L Gogerly who top-scored with 43.

Gogerly was once again in the thick of the action taking early wickets with the new ball.

He took the first four wickets, reducing the home side to 4 for 33 inside just the 11th over.

It was a dire, but not uncommon, situation for Batemans Bay 2nd Grade, who, despite an enterprising 28 from elder statesman, Andrew Malcolm, could not recover.

Opener Brendan Blackmore (12) was the only other batsman to notch double figures for the home side.

Bowled out in the 26th over for 91, Batemans Bay were left ruing lost opportunities.

Boasting one of the best bowling attacks in the competition, it has been the batsmen who have struggled to impose themselves upon opposition bowling attacks.

On this occasion, poor shot selection contributed to numerous soft dismissals.

The team will have to work harder now as the focus now shifts to two-day games beginning this Saturday against early season front-runners, Sussex Inlet.

Batemans Bay’s 3rd grade side defeated semi-finals contenders Berry by 62 runs 4, remaining unbeaten after 7 rounds and well clear at the top of the table.

The Bay were asked to bat first after the toss was won by Berry, and got away to a solid start with openers Pat Griffin and Lachlan Malcolm.

Good partnerships were the order of the day, with wickets falling at 57, 116, 145, 151, 170 and 204.

In the total score of 6/206 off 40 overs, all batsmen got some runs, headed up by U/14s player Lachlan Malcolm 46, two senior players in Jamie Prior (40) and Pat Griffin (32), with valuable contributions from James Dickinson (28) and Dave West (22).

After the tea break , Berry openers got away to a solid but slow start.

Brad Page upped the tempo and top scored with 53, but the accurate bowling of Batemans Bay tied down the other end.

While they batted out the 40 overs still had wickets to spare, Berry could only score a total of 7-144 from 40 overs.

All bowlers contributed and eight bowlers were used, with six of them taking wickets.

Matt Klarica picked up two wickets, while the pin-point accuracy of the evergreen Dave West returned 4 overs, 3 maidens, 1 wicket for 1 run in what was a display of exceptional bowling economy.

The Bay 4th Grade side played their second T20 match of the season and were unlucky to be pipped by Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen.

The Bay lost the toss, were invited to bat first and began well with Mark Tuckwell (26 ) and Tyler Frawley ( 21 ) putting on their now usual solid opening partnership of 44 runs.

In the chase for quick runs, the Bay then lost a steady stream of wickets with only veteran skipper Brett Woolridge breaking double figures with 26 n.o.

The total of 7-92 was competitive but it would take some good bowling to quell the experienced Ex-Servos batsmen.

This proved to be the case, with Ex-Servos scoring 6-93, but only passing the Bay total in the second last over.

Best of the bowlers was Bailey King with 1-13 off 3.2 overs and Tom King 2-15 (2 overs ).

Other wicket takers with one each were Grace Blackmore and Luke Gallen, while Josh Vanzetti had an individual run out.

The Bay side find themselves at the bottom of the ladder but have the potential to improve this situation.

This is shown by the fact that they have at least equal or far better percentages than three of the five teams above them; and they are in fact 2nd in the T20 standings.

Playing away from home Batemans Bay U/12s continued their winning form, remaining at the top of the table on percentages, with a solid win over 4th placed North Nowra.

The Bay side won the toss and sent Norths in to bat first.

Emily Zerafa was the only Nth Nowra batter to make double figures (16) while most of the Norths batters struggled to make inroads against accurate Bay bowling.

Will McAteer, (0-1 off 4 overs), Kaleb Watson (2-7, 4 overs), Ricky Holmes, Cooper Frawley, Jackson Riley, Deakin McPartland and Claudia Hannan each picked up a wicket as Norths were dismissed for total 75 runs.

In reply, Cooper Frawely opened the innings and remained not out 17. Will McAteer top-scored with 27 runs and Ricky Holmes (8) and Jackson Riley (6) each contributed to good partnerships.

It was not all the Bay’s way, as they lost 6 wickets in passing Norths total.

The Bay Under 11s played host at Hanging Rock to Sussex Inlet Whites, who won the toss and invited the home side to bat first.

Most of the Bay batters got away to starts, but Sussex Inlet limited the scoring with accurate bowling which yielded a steady flow of wickets.

Best for the Bay were Archie Hancock, Ivy Prior and Jesse Dunn. The Bay totalled 88 runs in their 20 overs.

The strong Sussex Inlet batters soon had the Bay in trouble, and all of them made good scores in running up a mammoth 6/203 in their 20 overs.

All the Bay bowlers suffered, and only Andy Frawley, Archie Hancock and Jesse Dunn took wickets.

The side continues to improve and the match was played in great spirits.

Second grade will start their first two-day game of the season against Sussex Inlet at Hanging Rock Oval at 1.30pm.

Third grade will also kick off their two-day game at Hanging Rock Oval, as they take on Bomaderry at 1.30pm.

Fourth grade will play a one-day match against North Nowra Cambewarra at Surfside Oval.

The under 11s will play Bay & Basin at 8.30am, while the under 12s begin their match against Ulladulla at 8am.
