South Coast Slow Food launched its new Local Producers Guide at Cupitt’s Winery and Restaurant in Ulladulla on Tuesday, November 13.
The new directory features more than 70 local producers for consumers to get to know their local small-scale farmers and providores – grocery shops selling South Coast produced food.
Shoalhaven City Council provided a marketing grant for $5,000 of matched funding to ensure visitors and residents can discover produce available in the region.

South Coast Slow Food president Rosie Cupitt said an aim of the guide was to support growers and producers, who “work hard to supply the local community with good food”.
“Eating locally grown and produced food is a good start to help fix our broken food system,” Mrs Cupitt said.
“It’s often difficult to find where to buy local foods and as we do not have an abundance of local markets we felt a guide to list all the good producers would work to help sell their produce.
“We want to connect the producers to the consumers as easily as possible so we can all shake the hand that feeds us.”
Producers and providores in Brooman, Termeil, Milton, Woodstock, Ulladulla, Lake Conjola and Bawley Point feature on the map as well as businesses from Kiama, the northern Shoalhaven, Batemans Bay and Moruya.
Restaurants, providores and producers were also presented their internationally recognised Snail of Approval award.
Tallwood Eatery, St. Isidore, Duke & Co, Milk Haus Wholefood Canteen and Cupitt’s Winery and Restaurant were added to the Chef’s Alliance.
Producers to receive a Snail of Approval included Claydon Park Farm, Hropic’s Seafood, Higgins Creek Farm, Kraken Sourdough and Martin’s Orchard.
Providores to received a Snail of Approval were Milton Farm Shop, The Fish Shop at Burrill Lake, EmPower Wholefoods, Stuart Brothers Deli, Wholefoods Store Milton and Cupitt’s Cheese and Beer.
The guide will be printed and distributed widely throughout the Shoalhaven and an online version on www.slowfoodsouthcoast.org.au will ensure more producers can be added and details are kept up to date.
