David Aitkin said children swimming in the enclosed launch area were a frequent problem for boaters trying to back trailers down the ramp, due to poor visibility.
“We can see nothing, even with mirrors,” he said.
“It’s highly dangerous.”
He said he had been trying to get the council to act since February.
Cr Innes said the signs would have gone up earlier, but they had not been ordered correctly.
At the same meeting, the council resolved to advocate to the RMS, state and federal members to incorporate a bus shelter and drive through area as part of the works at the corner of the Princes Highway and Hector MacWilliam Drive.
Extra funds would need to be allocated to the project.
“It is an opportunity to add value … you can see why people get frustrated with all levels of government when they see an obvious situation,” Deputy Mayor Rob Pollock said.
The council also voted to support an electric charging station licence for the NRMA at the Batemans Bay Visitor Information Centre.
The station may help reduce emissions from cars by supporting zero-emissions vehicles.
