There are plenty of hopes riding high on the two-day event

The best will be crowned state champions to represent ACT and NSW at the National Championships.

In a significant milestone for the sport in the Eurobodalla Shire, the nationals will be hosted for the first time in Moruya in March, 2019.       

This is the sixth year Skydive Oz has hosted the state skydiving championships at the Moruya venue.

Drop zone owner Paul Smith said he was proud the success of the past five events had earned Moruya the right to host the national championships next year.

Australian Parachute Federation CEO Brad Turner said Moruya had become a venue turning heads around the country.

“Since building the drop zone in 2012, Skydive Oz have been constantly upgrading the facilities to make it one of the best sport skydiving venues in the country,” Turner said.

In another coup, Australian athletes from the recent World Parachuting Championships hosted in the Gold Coast will be coaching at the event.

Australian record holder Kate Vaughan said the Moruya area was special.

“I’m looking forward to supporting upcoming teams at an event where I first started competing many years ago,” Vaughan said.

“Moruya is a very special place.”

The Moruya grounds are open to the public for watching the event first hand.

There are BBQ facilities and food and drinks are available for purchase on site.
