This unusual dish was served with some new ideas for down-to-earth living on Friday, November 2, at the SAGE gardens in Moruya.

Well-known author and permaculture teacher, Kirsten Bradley, spoke and answered questions on her new book Milkwood – Real Skills for Down-to-Earth Living.

It includes everything from tips on beekeeping, the best ways to preserve tomatoes, gathering wild food and even how to grow your own mushrooms in a bucket. 

Presenter, Turlinjah farmer Fraser Bayley, asked about the writing process.

“It was easy, because I love this stuff,” Ms Bradley said.

While it could be both “a blessing and a curse”, due to the hard work involved, she “wouldn’t love doing anything else”.

Ms Bradley said permaculture connected us to the land and broke down gender roles.

She encouraged people to teach their kids about nature and let them connect to the land and what they ate. 

Ms Bradley hopes to inspire others to start their own journey to living organically. 

Ms Bradley plans a sequel, which would include chickens and seed saving.
