The pair took home bronze for Australia at the international parachuting event on the Gold Coast, from October 6 to 13.
Their success came in the four-way sequential canopy formation event, along with fellow teammates Craig Bennett, Scott Brown and Stephen Tonson.
The bronze was one of three medals won by team Australia, with Moruya training regulars from the four-way vertical formation crew also finishing in third place.
Ms McConnel, who trains at Moruya’s Skydive Oz, said it was her first time medalling in the canopy formation event.
“The Australian team were really supportive. We had over 60 competitors and there was a really good atmosphere and everyone was cheering each other on,” she said.
“Some of teams that didn't medal broke Australian records, so there was a lot of celebrating.”
She said the success was further proof of Moruya’s history of excellence in the sport.
“The centre here is world-class and that attracts a lot teams to come and train here,” Ms McConnel said.
Moruya will host the Australian Parachuting Championships in March next year.
