Runners came from Wollongong, Goulburn, Orange, Dubbo and, of course, many from Canberra.
Special runner this week was Len Hogg who comes from Canberra and has 179 parkruns under his belt – four of which have been done at Batemans Bay.
Len is visually impaired, however this does not stop him running the 5km at parkrun each week. Tori Hennig was our volunteer that took to the course with Len to make him aware of any obstacles.
Runners and walkers who improved their times over the 5km course this week were: Louise Cox, Jason Davey, Tony Dawe, Emma Thomas, Isabella Marveus, Catherine Lamond and Nadine Crouch.
This week’s volunteers came from Capital Coast Steel. Many thanks to you all for making the job of running parkrun easy. Anna Hutchinson was run director and was joined by Danny Williams, Tracy Denning, Mark Ryan, Nicky Cowdroy, Ken Cox , Gary Robbins and Lyn Benn as our tailwalker.
The group loves to welcome new runners and walkers each week. Many families come along with prams and dogs as well. It is great meeting place and a chance to blow the cobwebs out with a bit of exercise.
Just register on the website and bring your printed barcode along on the day to get your time registered. Hope to see many more locals on Saturday.
These are the things we can guarantee you about parkrun: you will feel anxious when you first come; you will feel exhausted during the 5km; you will certainly enjoy the scenery; you will wonder why you are doing this at the half way mark; you will get encouragement all the way from friends and strangers; you will come over the line feeling crushed; you will be so proud of yourself for finishing; and you will make us happy that you came and joined in.
