Moruya Women
On Wednesday, October 17 the Moruya ladies played the first round of the yearly Hamper Rounds.
There was a smaller field playing, due to seven of our regulars playing in a tournament in the Murray district.
Hence there were only two grades for the day, where Barbara Kennedy had a Stableford score of 36 points to win Div. 1.
The runner-up was Marie Muriwai on a count-back with 34 points.
In Div. 2 Judy Love was a clear winner with a very impressive score of 40 points, and Joan Hosking the runner-up with a good score of 35 points.
Nearest the Pin winners were Sue Wallensky (Div. 1), Leonie Doolan (Div. 2) and Dawn Davies (Div. 3).
It was Div. 3’s turn for Longest Drive, where Joan Hosking took the prize.
The special Medal of Medals event, combining with the Far South Coast District Association Medal, has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, October 25, due to its wash-out on the 10th.
Scores will be calculated to find the 2nd Hamper round winners on the same day.
Moruya Saturday
The Moruya Saturday Golfers played the October monthly medal round with the following results.

With many veteran golfers participating in the Legends Pro-Am a smaller field than normal turned out on Thursday,October 11 with the following results:
9 Hole Individual Stableford played on the Red Course
A Grade Winners:
1st Ian Robinson (handicap 18) 21 Stableford points
2nd Gerry Martin (11) 20 points (ocb)
3rd Eddie Finn (14) 20 points
B Grade Winners:
1st Ron Winter (handicap 26) 24 Stableford points
2nd Wayno O’Brien (26) 23 points
3rd Peter Watson (26) 22 points
The distribution of balls went to 17 points (ocb)
Nearest the East Coast Carts pin on the 14th was Eddie Finn (A Grade) and Terry McAllister (B Grade)
Tuross Ladies
Tuesday’s game was the first round of the Christmas countdown, with 16 ladies taking part in this event.
Division one winner was Teri Swanbury with 35 points, followed by Kay McLeod with 32 points.
Division two winner was Gail Rogers with 35 points, followed by Dianne O’Shea with 25 points.
In third division it was Jennifer Gray with 37 points, followed by Elsa Shearer with 29 points after a countback from Lyn Benger also with 29 points.
The Golden hole in division one was won by Pauline Nash and in division two it was Di O’Shea.
Nearest the pin on the 6th was won by Teri Swanbury.
Next week will be the second round of the Christmas countdown, a single stableford event.
Tuross Head Men
Results for October 13
Steve Johnston was the winner of the Tuross Head men’s golf stableford competition on Saturday with an excellent score of 40 stableford points.
He was closely followed by Bob Hay on 39 points.
Michael Elfar and Tony Brown both finished with 37 and John Phyland was awarded the remaining group voucher with 35 points.
Nearest the pins were won by A grade golfer Mark Haberkorn on the 4th hole with 5.73 m.
Ian McManus was closest on the 6th with 1.86 m and Colin Houghton won the 7th hole with 2.46 m.
B grade closest on the 4th was Bruce Lidbury with 4.76 m. and he also won the 6th with 0.92 m.
Russel Taylor was closest on the 7th hole with 2.46 m.
C grade golfer Paul Israel won the 4th hole with 4.46m and Peter Johnston was best on the 6th with 1.81 m.
Thursday’s medley stableford competition was won by Allen Gannon with 37 stableford points ahead of Colin Houghton 35, Brad Doolan 35 and Peter Garn 34 points.
Nearest the pins went to Colin Houghton on the 4th, Peter Garn on the 6th and Peter Dugan won the 7th hole.
Tuross Head Veterans
Wednesday, October 16
Ian Wratten emerged as an easy winner in the Tuross Head veteran’s special par nine hole golf competition with an excellent score of plus 10.
Neil Watson returned a handy score of plus 7 for second placing edging out Ian’s wife Chris Wratten on a countback.
The final rostrum position was awarded to John Cox with plus 6.
Terry Lunn put his hand up to receive the Bradman’s award.
Other golfers who featured during the morning were Jennifer Gray who won the accuracy award.
Greg Ware won nearest the pin on the 4th hole while Ken Brown won the 6th hole and Kay McLeod was closest on the 7th for the ladies.
Rob Nash scored a player’s dream with a hole in one on the long par 7th hole.
Balls were awarded to Don Russell, Herb Muriwai, Warren Hodder, Margaret Downey, Mike Godford, Kay Lunt, Dennis Benger, Lyn Benger and Gail Rogers.
Next week’s competition is a two person Ambrose and is a gala day where golfers will compete for the Phyllis Starr Memorial Cup.
