Eurobodalla Shire Council’s care manager Sally Pryor praised all carers for their selfless contribution this National Care Week.
“We’d really like to say a big ‘thank you’. Because of their contribution, parents, children, family members and friends have exceptional support and care,” she said. “It takes great strength of character, a remarkable sense of purpose and huge commitment to care for another person. We need to acknowledge this, celebrate our carers’ achievements and ensure we support them.”
Ms Pryor said that while there were many rewards, caring could be demanding.
“Feedback from carers is that they often struggle alone for too long before admitting they need extra support,” she said.
