The ‘Galaxy of Stars’ concert showcases a selection of the best recording stars in country music and this year’s special guests include Peggy Gilchrist, Michelle Russell, Bill Murray and Ann Penman.
Lindsay Butler OAM is a highly-decorated musician and has been elevated to the Roll of Renown and Wall of Honour and is a multiple Golden Guitar winner.
Butler is known as one of the greatest Australian country guitar players of his generation, with his unique sound inspiring countless young pickers to play guitar. He has personally released close to 30 solo instrumental albums.
Shaza Leigh is a prominent figure within the country music industry in her own right. Renowned as Australia’s ‘First Lady of Song’, Shaza possesses one of the best voices in the country.
She has been inducted onto The Women’s Wall of Fame, Hands of Fame, Wall of Honour and has amassed a string of vocal and songwriting awards, including twelve consecutive titles as ‘Queensland Female Vocalist of the Year’.
Shaza has received ‘National Female Artist of the Year on Radio’ four times and has numerous Golden Guitar nominations, having released 13 highly-acclaimed studio albums throughout her career.
Queen of the country piano, Peggy Gilchrist, stars in her own feature spot on the concert. Gilchrist has toured as part of the Butler Show Band for more than five years and the excitement, enthusiasm and fun that she brings to the stage is unsurpassed.
She has won ‘Queensland Musician of the Year’ for five consecutive years plus ‘Queensland New Talent of the Year’ for her debut release. She was awarded ‘National Female Artist of the Year on Radio’ in 2015.
Gilchrist’s second album, Take Two, has been widely received by audiences across the country.
Michelle Russell joins the troupe after returning from the Mildura Country Music Festival. Russell’s new album Restless Heart has received national acclaim since its January release.
Bill Murray’s smooth vocals and Ann Penman’s dynamic stage presence round out a crowd-pleasing country variety show, with both artists performing songs from their new albums.
The Butlers are a formidable team and their 2018 ‘Galaxy of Stars’ concert is an impressive showcase of legends and current stars, backed by their inclusive show band.
