Allan Rees said members of the group travelled to Nowra to give Ms Sudmalis a copy of the report, and were disappointed to be told she had left.
“We do not accept the lame excuses of the Federal Government nor believe their claim that Australia will achieve the Paris climate targets,” he said.
“Despite a small reduction in emissions per capita, Australia has one of the highest carbon emissions in the world for the size of our population. We cannot ask other countries to save the Great Barrier Reef unless we take action. Australia needs to phase out using coal to generate electricity over the next ten years. This can be achieved using wind, solar, batteries and hydro with the Australian National University plan announced in 2017.”
