The day was organised by Jude Rafferty, whose partner Bec Barney passed away from breast cancer less than two years ago.

Ms Rafferty set up a scholarship follower her partner’s death to help train new McGrath Foundation nurses for country areas.

Businesses from around the region donated items for the day’s silent auction, with all proceeds going towards the McGrath Foundation.

The day started with a Pink Dog Walk, where dog owners dressed up their pooches in anything pink, whether it be fairy wings, a pink jacket, or simply pink spray paint.

Judges awarded prizes to the best-dressed dog, as well as oldest dog, youngest dog, hairiest dog, and the dog with the best trick.

The group then played a game of pink cricket, complete with pink wickets, pink bats, and a pink tennis ball. Team A beat Team B by five runs, although no one was really focused on the result.

The Rural Fire Service and Batemans Bay Police both had a presence at the day, with two fire trucks and a police car being popular among the children. Many of the kids were allowed to have a turn with the lights and sirens.

Ms Rafferty had her hair shaved down to a number three, and raised more than $100 for the haircut. Other participants also shaved their head, while some had pink hairspray for the day.

The day ended with talks from Ms Rafferty, Shayne McArthur who is living with breast cancer, and breast cancer nurse Andrea Franke.

Ms Rafferty encouraged everyone in attendance to pink up their front yard in October, as anyone who does decorate their yard will be judged on October 27.
