Thanks to the generosity of the IMB Bank Community Foundation, SAGE (Sustainable Agriculture and Gardening Eurobodalla) received $17,990 in 2018 to run a series of veggie gardening workshops.

The aim of the workshops was to install free garden beds across the Eurobodalla for workshop participants who are also Centrelink recipients.

Members of the Tuross Head Men’s Shed came out in force to assist SAGE with installing 18 garden beds in the backyards of Centrelink recipients around Tuross Head from May to September 2018.
Steve Ryder, Ken Parker, Greg Campbell, Leo Demchy and Wayne Brockman took to shovels and wheelbarrows to make light work of installing 18 garden beds.
Each one came with a special vegetable growing mix, sugar cane mulch and seedlings.
The Tuross Head Men’s Shed has recently celebrated their fifth anniversary and has 55 members.
On Mondays, men are hard at work making things with a range of other activities scheduled during the week.
Tuesday afternoons are for card games, while Wednesday afternoons are reserved for playing snooker.
Thursday morning is their social day with tea/coffee and snags and a camera group meets in the afternoon.
On Friday afternoons it’s table tennis time.

Steve Smith, co-ordinator of the Tuross Head Community Garden, also assisted with his trailer by helping to collect soil. He also lent a hand with the installations.
Of those who received the garden beds three of the Centrelink recipients chose to donate their garden beds to the Tuross Head Community Garden.
With Tuross Head installations now complete, the SAGE Veggies for All team will take a short break and will then be ready to start gardening work again on installations in Moruya, Tomakin and Sunshine Bay.
