A spokeswoman for the Eurobodalla Shire Council said the four-leg roundabout would replace the existing Tomakin Road and George Bass Drive intersection, and provide a direct connection to Sunpatch Parade.
“A new section of Tomakin Road, which was realigned to approach the new roundabout, is now complete and was opened to traffic last week. Work will now move onto Sunpatch Parade during the school holiday period,” she said.
“Minimal disruptions are expected and traffic control will be in place.”
She said major work on George Bass Drive will begin after the school holidays.
“From Monday 15 October traffic will be reduced to two lanes and there will be no turning bays onto Tomakin Road. Delays are expected and motorists should allow extra time to travel through the area until the roundabout is complete,” she said.
“Council is mindful of increased traffic in the region due to the school holidays and wanst to keep disruptions to a minimum. We appreciate the community’s patience while these important works are underway and encourage motorists to follow directions at the worksites, including the 40km/h speed limit.”
The $3.5 million project is funded by the Australian Government’s Building Our Future Program.
