Both athletes represented Australia in the Sprint Distance race (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) held on Thursday, where Sally came sixth in her age group with a race time of 1:16:47.
Sally was the third best Australian finisher, behind three other British athletes.
She had a slower swim and bike leg than those who finished ahead of her, but the fastest run leg of all athletes.
Dan finished in a time of 1:01:59, and was the seventh of the Australian contingent, out of a total field of 90 athletes.
Dan had the equal fastest bike leg, and a time of 10 seconds was all that kept him from finishing sixth.
Sally backed up on Sunday for the Olympic distance race (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run), finishing seventh, in a time of 2:28:55, and was the leading Australian finisher by some 30 seconds.
Sally lost time to those who completed the course ahead of her on the swim and bike leg, but recorded the second fastest run time, only beaten by the overall race winner, Canadian Margie Ritchie.
Club president Rodney Bradley said: “We are justifiably proud for Sally and Daniel, to both represent Australia and for the results they achieved. But these are two exceptional athletes. The club’s focus is to support all of our members, no matter at what level they compete, or their ability. It is extraordinary that a club of our size has had three members race at world championship level in our short history.’’
The Eurocoast Triathlon Club was formed in June 2014 to bring triathletes together from the South Coast and raise awareness of the sport in the area. From here, the members’ focus moves back to the domestic races. Some will be preparing for the Long Course Weekend at Jervis Bay on October 19-21, where athletes can select various race distances in the swim/bike/run leg over consecutive days.
