First grade will be without their four representative players in Trent Copeland, Moises Henriques and Kurtis Patterson who will be representing NSW in the JLT Cup as well as Australian representative Josh Hazlewood who is currently out injured.
There are two debutantes; Ulladulla United product Tom Engelbrecht and Sydney Cricket Club’s Tom Ortiz.
Engelbrecht, who joined North Nowra-Cambewarra product Kaleb Phillips in the team, showed his value with a great game against Campbelltown in the tied trial match at Hurstville Oval on Saturday with 70 off 64 ball and 2/36 off 10 with his leg spinners.
He has already represented The Saints at Green Shield level.
Engelbrecht was recently selected in the ACT/NSW Country Futures League side along with Blake Macdonald, who is lining up for his second season in the Saints top side.
With Copeland out the team will be captained by Nick Stapleton who was one of the standouts of the Sydney Grade competition.
St George first grade squad: Nick Stapleton ©, Matthew Hopkins, Blake Macdonald, Jono Rose, Luke Bartier, Tom Engelbrecht, Kaleb Phillips, Peter Francis, Mitch Gray, Tom Ortiz and Michael Kennedy.
