Far South Coast Women
Teams from Tuross Head, Malua Bay, and Tomakin have recently competed at State Level Championship Play-offs. These were held at Taren Point in the first week of September.
This is a major achievement and these teams should be very proud that they have represented their club and our district at this level. Many of the players they played against compete at Australian and international events.
The teams from the clubs were:
Tomakin Senior Pairs – Jennie Hogan & Milka Starkovski – reached the semi finals and were defeated by Cabramatta.
Malua Bay Senior Fours – Gay Biggs, Helen Rees, Alison Innes & Pat Bill – went down by one shot in the first round ( on the last end)
Tuross Head Open Pairs – Denise Lidbury (sub for Doreen Monks) & Sue Fahey – reached the quarter finals and were defeated by Sarah Bodington Team from Tuncurry.
Tuross Head Open Fours – Averial Cox, Rose Farrington, Sue Fahey & Denise Lidbury reached the quarter finals, and were defeated by the Natasha Scott team from Raymond Terrace who went on to win the fours.
Tuross Head Triples – Averial Cox, Rose Farrington & Denise Lidbury who were defeated in the first round by Lake Cathie who were the eventual runners-up of the triples.

Today’s winners were Fred Burggraaf, Adam Pooley, and Steve Gigg with a margin of plus 16. Ivan Edwards, Robert Richardson, and Owen Roe were the runners up with a margin of plus 11. The jackpot draw went to rink 11, but the winning skip Mike Hall missed the joker. The $510 must go off soon as the deck is getting thin.
We welcomed a number of visitors from Victoria this week with Sean Tatterson and George Ward from Trafalgar, Ivan Edwards from Montrose and Bill Nicholson from Rosebud. We look forward to seeing them back in Tomakin soon.
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our special general meeting on Saturday morning.
The first two rounds of the Handicap Pairs were played last weekend. Conditions were very difficult on Saturday with strong winds which contrasted with brilliant blue skies on Sunday.
Catch up games and the semi-final will be played this coming weekend. Congratulations to Robyn Thompson and Robert Richardson who both won delicious meat trays in our Saturday raffle.
Individual Entry Pairs: Monday, September 17
Today’s winners were decided on ends won plus 3 as we had a triples game in the mix. The winners were Gordon Wheatley and Brian Leahy with 17 ends, and the runners-up were Michael Voce and Ken Franklin with 16 ends.
Ken Franklin who was the winning skip on rink 9 overlooked the possibility of the joker being on top of the deck. The $500 pot is still to be won.
