Get Ready Weekend 2018 will be held on the weekend of 22-23 September.
“Get Ready Weekend provides an opportunity for members of the community to meet their local firefighters, learn about local risk and understand what they need to do to prepare for the bush fire season,” RFS spokeswoman Kelwyn White said.
“It is also an opportunity for our brigade members to encourage residents to discuss and review their Bush Fire Survival Plan.
“Get Ready is the largest mobilisation of volunteer firefighters for the NSW Rural Fire Service outside of firefighting operations, and this year we are aiming to have more than 550 brigades involved across the state.”
The Broulee brigade has joined forces with a hardware store for its event.
“At Broulee Rural Fire Brigade's Get Ready Weekend, we are hosting an event at the station on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm,” Ms White said.
“Cameron’s Hardware, Moruya, will attend with garden equipment, pumps, generators – anything that they stock and sell that residents could use to prepare for bush fire.”
