Parkrun is a free, timed walk and run event held every Saturday morning. It is only made possible by the work of volunteers and last Saturday we celebrated the efforts of one of our most dedicated volunteers – Gail Legg. Gail recently reached her 25 times volunteering milestone which entitles her to wear a fabulous purple T-shirt. This will join Gail’s red parkrun T-shirt which is awarded to those who have completed 50 runs. Gail is our first local to earn the ‘Two T-shirt’ honour.

We had seven runners who managed personal best times this week. A special shout out to junior parkrunner Jaxon Davey who managed a PB on his sixth run with us. His big smile is a real heartwarmer and he’s a great ambassador for showing how much fun parkrun can be.
Speaking of fun – we can’t let this week go by without making mention of regular Peter Counsell, who this week chose to run in lederhosen. We’re not sure why – something about an upcoming trip to Germany? Whatever the reason, he looked fantastic!
As usual, we also attracted some parkrun tourists who loved our flat, waterfront course. We enjoyed hosting seasoned parkrunners Judi Jamieson from Canberra and Jacqueline Taylor from East Gippsland. Hope we see you again.
All runners and walkers are welcome to join us on the 5km course. We meet every Saturday morning at 7.50am for the 8am start. You can register online at www.parkrun.com.au to obtain a barcode which you must bring along with you every week to get a recorded result. The venue is Rotary Park near the Marina roundabout in Batemans Bay.
