Tuross Head men
Tuross Head Country Club men golfers competed for the single stroke monthly medal round on Saturday.

The competition is held over three divisions and Ben Hewison was the winner of the A grade section with a net score of 71 strokes.
Well known Tuross Head golfer Brad Doolan filled second place with 72 strokes and Shannon Monopoli was third with with 73.
Steven O'Shea was the best of the B grade players with a net 72 with Frank Pomfret and Russell Taylor filling the minor placings on a countback.
C grade was won by Michael Elfar with 71 net ahead of Ian Kingston 72 and Michael Allen 73 strokes.
Colin Houghton had the lowest off the stick score of 75.
Shannon Monopoli won the Golden Shot award on the second hole with 2.85m.
Nearest the pins were won by A grade player Ben Hewison on the 4th hole with 6.47m.
Shannon Monopoli won the 6th with 2.93m and
Brad Doolan the 7th with 2.58m.
John Phyland was the closest of the B grade golfers with 2.63m on the 4th hole.
Bruce Cleeve was best on the 6th with 2.72m and
Tony Brown was best on the 7th with 4.04m.
C grade layer Peter Johnston won the 4th hole with 2.10 and
Paul Pereira was closest on the 6th with 3.47m.
The coming Saturday round is the Scoty single stableford round.
Thursday's medley stableford competition was won by Colin Houghton with a score of 40 points ahead of
Jim Madden and Darrell Kidney both on 37.
Tim Watson's score of 36 saw him take out the remaining spot.
Nearest the pins were won by Tim Watson on the 4th holed, Steve Johnston won the 6th and
Bruce Lidbury the 7th.
Tuross Head veterans
Husband and Wife team up for Stableford Multiplier win
A smaller than normal field of 47 players teed of for this morning's 2 Person Team Stableford Multiplier event, a game requiring each player to score on every hole in order to maximise the team score overall.
Results on the day were as follows:
1st: Steve and Teri Swanbury with a good score of 43 points.
2nd: Michael Godford and Don Russell on 40 points.
3rd: Henry Anderson and David Williams with 36 points.
4th: Greg Thornton and Richard Kelly on 30 points.
Ball or Chocolate:
Ross and Gayle Macalpine together with Leigh Edwards and Michael Kermode on 24, and finally Rick Brake and Rob Nash on 23.
Bradman Award:
Having played 18 holes in a charity game only the day before, two of our more senior players in Tim Starr and Les Johanson struggled to combine as a team and took out the award this week.
Nearest the Pins:
4th: Kevin Dukes.
6th: Chris Wratten.
Ladies 7th: Teri Swanbury.
Men's 7th: Frank Pomfret.
Accuracy:
Greg Smith hit a fine straight drive down the 5th fairway to take out this week's accuracy award.
Next Week:
Next week's event is a Stroke and Putts game, and also the second and final round of the Tuross Vets Championships for 2018.
Registration is from 7.45am in the downstairs sports bar area with a shotgun start at 8.30am.
Moruya men
The September Medal was played on Saturday with the following results; Medal winners A Grade John Murphy 68, B Grade Charles Laidley 66 and C Grade Andrew Ferguson 66
The gross winners were Roger Dannock, 70, P.J.Grant 83 and Dave Sneddon 88.
The Golden Shot was won by Jeff Ludlow with NTP’s going to 6th Paul Mercer, Rod Berry and Paul Kelsey; 10th Peter Collins, Cerys Hawkins and Ron Richards while on the 12th it was Greg Ganderton, P.J. Grant and Dave Hendren.
Balls went to 75 c/b.
Moruya women
A mixed weather day for Wednesday golf this week.
A few rain showers intermingled with sunshine but a most enjoyable day for golf.
The course needed the rain so there were no complaints about the short rain bursts.
This week’s event was a 2 Ball aggregate stableford.
Division 1 winners were Annette O Connell and Shirley Noy with 41 points.
Runner up pair was Val Nixon and Barbara Swain with 40 pts on a count back.
Barbara Kennedy and Chris Edwards were 2nd runners up with 40 pts.
Nearest to the pin competitions were won by Sue Wallensky division 1, Noeline Cowdroy div 2 and Joanne Dixon div 3.
Val Moore won longest drive.
Saturday’s ladies stroke event was won by Judi Hebbard with Dee Meek runner up.
Moruya veterans
Last Monday, September 3, the Moruya Veteran golfers played the inaugural Red Rose Classic, an 18 hole Stableford event sponsored by the Red Rose Cafe of Moruya.
A field of 58 players participated vying for excellent prizes thanks to the generosity of donors - Curtis and Cloud, Harry and Rouge, Moruya Bowling Club, all sweet talked by Billy Olmos of the Red Rose Cafe - the event's major sponsor.
The winners on the day were:
Mens Division 1 - Bruce Gorton; Division 2 - Paul Hawkins.
Ladies Division 1 - Robyn Hawkins; Division 2 - Dawn Davies.
This event will now become an annual fixture on the Veterans golf calendar.

Ladies competition Results, September 5
A Stableford Portia Dunn Trophy round was played with 58 entrants.
Grade A winners were Helen Neave [10]30 points, on a countback Margaret Dickinson [4] 30 points, also on a countback from Rosemary Weeks [21] 30 points.
Grade B winners were Julie Bellamy [27] 31 points, Beverly Holliday [30] 30 points and Jill Williams [29] 29 points.
Grade C winners were Donna Mills [35] 38 points, Jenny Tooth [32] 34 points and Joan Coddington, visitor Young GC [31] 32 points.
Nearest the pin Div 1 hole 11 Margaret Dickinson. Div 2 hole 7 Beverly Holliday, Div 3 hole 14 Judith Stokes. Ball Competition went to 25 even.
