The show is open to the public from 10am to 6pm on Friday and from 10am until 3pm on Saturday. Presentations of awards and drawing of the lucky door prize and a multi prize raffle start at 3pm on Saturday.
As with other orchid club shows, the displays will have multiple genre of orchids. With the changing weather conditions, we would expect to see more Native orchids on the benches. These conditions also provide us with the expectation of more than 150 plants on display. The native orchids tend to have a wonderful perfume. The range of shapes and sizes of these plants always amaze both orchid club members and the public.
There is a biannual regional show which Batemans Bay Orchid and Foliage Society participates in. This show has a display section and at each of our shows over the past 12 months, we have set up a display. These always have a theme. The winter show theme was Christmas in July. Come and see what this one will be.
Judging happens on the Thursday evening so the lucky winners will have their orchids identified by cards and ribbons on the display tables as well as the champions table. As usual, there will be a sales table with both flowering and non-flowering orchids as well as Orchid possies.
There will be a potting demonstration at 11am and 1pm both days. Club members are also on hand to answer any questions visitors may have.
The Native Show is on Friday, Saturday, October 12-13. This show is also in the Auditorium at the Soldiers Club in Batemans Bay and is open from 10am to 6pm on Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturday.
The Batemans Bay Orchid and Foliage Society meets on the first Monday of the month (except January) in the Soldiers Club. Benching is from 6.30pm, judging from 7pm with a general meeting starting at 7.30pm. The majority of the meetings will have a guest speaker discussing orchids in some way.
