Batemans Bay Tigers junior rugby league club had four teams compete in the semi-finals over the weekend, with three progressing into the preliminary finals to be held at Mackay Park on Saturday, September 1.

The Under 10s team had a convincing win against the Bega Roosters, 26- 12. Tries were scored by Kodi Perkins, Luke Drewsen and Max Burke with Kodi Roberts adding two tries to his impressive tally of 17 for the season. Roberts is currently the top try-scorer for Group 16, with a lead of six tries.
Aidan Tyrrell’s impressive form with the boot continued and saw him add to, and retain, his position as the top goal-scorer for Group 16 with seven for the season.
The Under 10s will now play Merimbula-Pambula Bulldogs for a place in the Grand Final.
The club’s Under 12s team played a close match against the Narooma Devils. Despite taking the lead in the early stages of the match they were eventually defeated 8-12. Zethan Caple scored both tries in the game, bringing his total tries for the season to three. The defeat ends the team’s 2018 season.
The Under 14s comfortably defeated the Eden Tigers, 52-18. Try-scorers included Jahream Lole-Ngarima with a hat trick, Jesse Thompson and Harrison Rogan with two tries each, and single tries being awarded to Jonathan Worthy, Key Bruce and Luke Shooks.
Conversion goals were kicked by Key Forrest (3) and Jerome Chatfield (2). The team take on second-placed Narooma in the upcoming preliminary final.
The final Bay Tigers team to play in the semi-finals were the Under 16s. They finished the season in third place and took on the fourth-placed Moruya Sharks. After being down 6-20 in the second half, the team scored 16 unanswered points in 10 minutes.
James Henry, Ethan Jackson and Jordan McPherson contributed to their team’s tally with a try each. The talented Under 14’s Jahream Lole-Ngarima played up the age-group and proved he was not out of place, scoring the third Tiger’s try of the match.
Matthew Stewart’s kicking skills came into their own once again with three successful conversions. Stewart is the second-placed goal scorer in Group 16 with 20 for the season. The Under 16s will play the second-placed Bega Roosters in the preliminary final this weekend.
The club wishes all the teams well for their upcoming matches. Spectators are welcome to support the teams who will be playing at Mackay Park from 9.30am onwards.
