Threatening rain stayed away on Saturday morning, which meant great conditions for the 35 runners and walkers and seven volunteers who took part in Batemans Bay parkrun.

Nine runners managed personal-best times on the five-kilometre course on Saturday, which may have been aided by the softer grounds after Friday night’s rain.
One of those was serial-improver Wendy Counsell. Wendy has now completed the Batemans Bay course 23 times and managed personal best times on 11 occasions.
Back in May last year she started with a steady walk time of 51 minutes and 56 seconds, and on Saturday did a commendable run time of 27 minutes and 37 seconds. What an incredible improvement!
We also welcomed Peter and Matt Johnsen for their first time completing the Batemans Bay course. Hopefully these two Broulee residents will become regular park runners/walkers.
Next Saturday’s event will mark our first spring-time run for 2018, so come and join us for some fitness and fun.
All runners and walkers are welcome to join us on the five-kilometre course. We meet every Saturday morning at 7.50am for the 8am start.
You can register online at www.parkrun.com.au to obtain a barcode which you must bring along with you every week to get a recorded result.
The venue is Rotary Park near the Marina roundabout in Batemans Bay.
