The win means the Seahawks are guaranteed a home final, as they are four games clear of the fourth-placed Griffins with only three rounds to play.
The Seahawks led by a mere three points at quarter time, but a powerful five-goals-to-two second quarter set them up with a 26-point lead at the main break.
That burst proved to be match winning, as the Seahawks only managed to stretch their lead by nine points in the second half of a 11.11 (77) to 6.6 (42) victory.
Ross Hummel kicked three goals in his 100th match with the club, while Kyle O’Malley and Jarrod Thompson both kicked a brace.
Seahawks captain/coach Mick Kenny was “stoked” with the result.
“Our goal at the start of the year was to be a top-four side,” he said. “To be in that spot with three games to go is very pleasing.
“We knew they were going to be a quality side, but we spoke at quarter time about taking advantage of the breeze, and we were lucky enough to kick four goals in the last part of the quarter.”
Despite the impressive result, Kenny believes there is still improvement in the squad.
“I don’t think we’ve hit our potential yet,” he said. “We’ve beaten all the top sides, and we’ve still got improvement in us.
“Our whole thing is about work rate. We’re working hard, and everyone’s putting in for each other.”
