The team included Batemans Bay High School’s Taniesha Roberts, Ulladulla High School’s Grace Sullivan, and St Peters Anglican College’s Eleni Ives.
Michael Nicoletti, a teacher at St. Peters, was also with the team as an assistant coach.
This year saw a very new squad, with most of the players having little to no experience with 15-a-side rugby leading into the game.
With support from the Brumbies and coaching volunteers, they were able to provide a quality development program catering for all skill levels.
Taniesha, Grace and Eleni did our area proud with some excellent plays across the board.
A 20-14 loss was an outstanding achievement by the squad that had the game on a sword’s edge.
Running rugby was the flavour of the day, with both forward packs having big games.
To the CHS team’s credit, they we are able to produce four tries from long range, with the Brumbies converting two of their own.
With the popularity of girls and women’s rugby on the increase, the ACT Brumbies are offering a seven-a-side competition starting in October called the Next Generation Super 7s Series.
