The shire’s community heroes and their dancer partners will heat up the dance floor in Tomakin this Saturday night when they put their best foot forward for the Cancer Council in the Stars of the Eurobodalla’s Dance for Cancer.

The event will feature nine well-known community stars, paired with local dance instructors, who have each learnt a dance routine in a variety of styles.
On Saturday, July 21, they will perform their routines at the Tomakin Club in front of an audience for the first time, competing for votes from judges and the audience.
This year’s lineup of local stars includes The Bay Post/Moruya Examiner’s own Duncan McLaughlin; Shae Lee Stanton from the Tomakin Club; Victoria and Stephen Haberley from Bayside Therapies; Kimberli Eke from Moruya High School and The Girl Campaign; Robyn Kennedy from Broulee Runners; Victoria Rutherford from Perfect Honey; as well as Tristan Bradshaw, Gary Megay and Keith Armstrong.
This year’s event aims to raise $30,000 to help the Cancer Council continue delivering prevention, information and support services in the Eurobodalla Shire.
Last year’s event raised upwards of $29,000 and saw Melanie White and the Oncology Girls take out the Judges’ Award on the night.
Kelly Hayes from the Cancer Council’s Southern office said the event was a fun way for the community to support their local celebrities while fundraising to beat cancer.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring Stars of Eurobodalla Dance for Cancer to the region once again,” Ms Hayes said.
“This style of event is quite unique and very entertaining for the audience.
“The night will be full of laughs, fun and most importantly, raise funds for local Cancer Council support services including the Transport to Treatment program, as well as the delivery of prevention programs such as Sun Sound and Improve your Long Game.
“Cancer Council is only able to provide these services thanks to the generosity of the community and I’d like to thank everyone involved.”
