Officers from the Proactive Crime squad conducted a two-day retail theft operation, targeting stores in the Batemans Bay and Moruya CBDs.
Police arrested 22 people and charged seven for alleged shoplifting offences.
Criminal infringement notices were issued to 11 people and and 11 in-store bans were handed down. Officers searched 27 people during the operation and issued four youth cautions.
South Coast Police District Inspector Angela Burnell said it was disappointing to see people continue to shoplift.
“Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and it is disappointing to see these results,” Inspector Burnell said.
“You never know when police will be targeting this offence.
“We have a commitment to maintain overt and covert operations for this criminal activity.”
The matters are expected to come before Batemans Bay and Moruya court at a later date.
