The show, is, of course, set in the ‘Big Apple’ with a side trip to Cuba. Rehearsals began yesterday (Tuesday) away from the Bay Playhouse which is currently preparing for BTP’s next show, Talking Heads.
Lerae’s merry band will take over the theatre when Talking Heads closes at the end of July.
Lerae has welcomed back some old faces who will be well known to BTP audiences, and one or two new ones.
Her cast includes Jeremy Kemp, Lachlan Brown, Steve Johnston, Rob Wombey, Rebecca Pleasant, Anna Smart, Stefanie Foster, Fran Devonald, Ross Hosking, Bill Douglas, Jeff Jones, Jack Smith, Tyler McNamara, Lewis Ebejer, Ashley Connell, Rob Devonald, Ashleigh Magoffin, Lilly Marion, Michele Whittle, Janet Kohler-Bond, Bri Louise Karena, Alex Quick, Amara Tofield, Mia Johnstone and Lyn Benn.
Lerae says she may well add to her cast as rehearsals gather pace! She expects that the ensemble roles will “more than likely play multiple characters”.
Meanwhile, work continues at the Playhouse transforming the old costume hire operation into a fully-fledged theatre wardrobe, heavily stocked with ‘period’ costumes for future productions.
Repainting will be complete in another couple of weeks but the actual cataloguing and reorganisation of costumes will take a few more months yet.
And, don’t forget, Talking Heads tickets are now on sale. You can book your seats online, any time, via the link on www.baytheatreplayers.org.au or directly from the theatre’s ticket agent at www.trybooking.com/WBHF.
