Sunshine and sculptures transformed what would have been a sleepy Saturday and Sunday into a sensation.
It was with disappointment the Bay Post learned this year’s event was cancelled after relations between the organisers and the Eurobodalla Shire Council broke down. It was with relief we later learned the show – after 11th-hour talks – would go on, albeit without international exhibits and without the large sculpture display on the foreshore. Thankfully, those larger pieces will, however, find a place at Bawley Point.
The smaller sculptures can still be seen at the same lovely heritage venue as last year. The winners of the school mathematical sculpture contest will be in shopfronts, as part of a sculpture walk through the CBD.
Last year’s event drew sculptors from up and down the coast. It was a credit to everyone involved.
Many readers will hope a rock-solid relationship can be carved out for 2019 that sees the foreshore alive with larger-than-life art again.
