Batemans Bay Seahawks captain Michael Kenny said the scoreboard was installed on Monday.
“I think there were a few boys down there on Monday having a bit of a play around with it,” he said.
The club will now wait for their first opportunity to use the new scoreboard against Belconnen on Saturday, June 16.
“We’ve got the juniors and seniors playing on the day, and we’ll unveil the scoreboard,” Kenny said. “It’s going to be a big day.”
The scoreboard opens up fundraising opportunities for the club, including movie nights on the big screen.
“I think there’s a bit of talk of that, and some talk of an AFL Grand Final up on the big screen,” Kenny said. “It could potentially be a bit of a money-spinner for the club.”
With the upgraded scoreboard, and the terrific facilities, the next step for Hanging Rock oval could be a NEAFL game.
“With all the upgrades at the ground over the past few years, I don’t see why they couldn’t do it,” Kenny said. “I may be a bit biased, but I think it’s the best ground in our competition.”
