A shot gun start got proceedings under way for Catalina Veteran Golfers on Thursday, May 17. Two courses were utilised and many participants took the opportunity to finetune their games prior to the Club Championships due to start two days later.

The distribution of balls went to 16 points. Nearest the East Coast Carts pin on the 25th was Ken Gardner (A Grade) and Ron Winter (B Grade), while on the 7th it was Edward Dodd (A Grade) and Jim Chaffey (B Grade).
Moruya Saturday Golf
The Moruya Saturday Golfers played a 2 BBB + Single Stableford Event.
2 BBB Winners were Marcus Grant and PJ Grant with 45 points.

A Grade: 1st Marcus Grant with 36 nett, 2nd Garry Wales with 35 net, 3rd Laurie Buckle with 33 nett
B Grade: 1st Ryan Staunton with 39 nett on C/B, 2nd Kye Parkes with 39 nett; 3rd Michael Lynch with 37 nett on C/B
C Grade: 1st Ronny Jefferies with 37 nett, 2nd Peter McGarry with 36 nett, 3rd Ron Richards with 35 nett. Golden Shot was won by Garry Wales
NTP : 6th Hole Greg Ganderton, Peter Sutton, Ron Richards; 10th Hole Roo Foran, Peter Mylott, Don Parker; 12th Roo Foran, Glen Lyon, Noelene Cowdroy. Ball Rundown went to 31 on C/B.
Tuross Head Men
Tuross Head Country Club were able to complete their men’s golf championships last weekend, although the event had to be reduced to a competition of 36 holes held over two rounds on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20.
Played in ideal conditions, on a well prepared course, Leigh Coloe emerged as the club champion with a scratch score of 145 strokes with Aaron Monopoli finishing as runner-up with 148.
B grade scratch winner was Reginald Apps with 177 points and C grade scratch winner was Richard Kelly with 185 strokes.
Overall championship net winner went to Michael Kermode, who played consistent golf over the two days, and returned a net score of 140 strokes.
The winners of the divisional grades were: A grade net winner was Marty Booth with 142 strokes; B grade net winner was Russell Taylor with 147 strokes; and C grade net winner was Terry Milliken with 147 strokes.
Saturday, May 19 - First championship round.
Shannon Mazurkiecz was the winner of the stroke and putt event with a score of 69 net with Ian Miller finishing second on a countback in the A grade division.
B grade golfer John Phyland won B grade, also on a countback, with a net 70 strokes ahead of Reginald Apps.
Michael Kermode was the best of the C grade players with a low 67 net strokes, with Gerald Strickland second on 69 strokes.
Leigh Coloe had the lowest off the stick round of 71 while Mitch McLean enjoyed the satisfaction of scoring an eagle on the par 5 10th hole. Bruce Lidbury won the putting competition with 26 putts.
Sunday, May 20 – second championship round
David Gray scored an impressive net 70 strokes to win the A grade division with Jayden Hayden second on 71 strokes.
B grade was won by Martin Booth with a low 67 score ahead of Reginald Apps on 73.
C grade best was Terry Milliken who scored 69 ahead of Richard Kelly 71.
Aaron Monopoli had the best off the stick score of 73 strokes and Leigh Coloe scored an eagle on the par 5 tenth hole.
Tuross Head Ladies
Another glorious day on the golf course, for the 16 ladies to play in a single stableford event. The winner in division one was Gail Rogers with 33 points, followed by Marie Muriwai with 32 points.
Division two winner was Annette Manton with 30 points, followed by Judy Apps also with 30 points. In division three it was Elsa Shearer with 32 points, followed by Ann Challender with 26 points.
Balls went to: Kaye Lunt 30 points; Chris Wratten 28 points; Leonie Snodgrass 27 points. The golden hole in division one was won by Marie Muriwai and in division two it was Jeanette Miller.
Nearest the pin on the sixth went to Chris Wratten. Next week the ladies will play in a three-person aggregate stableford event.
Tuross Head Veterans
Once again the weather on Wednesday was fantastic for the 59 starters who set out to play in a two-person Irish team stableford event. The lucky winners were Peg Nevitt and Derek Hoare with 34 points, followed by Gerry Magill and Terry Challender with 33 points.
In third place it was Greg Thornton and Richard Kelly with 32 points. The Bradmans was awarded to Errol Soden and Barry Hoban and the Accuracy drive went to Ian Manton.
Nearest the pins: 4th Ken Brown; 6th Michael Godford; 7th Teri Swanbury and Ron Lunt. Ball or chocolate went to Gail and Len Rogers, Ann and Bruce Ware, Allen Lee and David Williams - 30 points. Lyn and Denis Benger, Ian and Jeanette Miller,
Rick Brake and Warren Hodder - 27 points. Next week will be a single stableford event.
Moruya Ladies
The third and final round of the Moruya Ladies Singles Championships for 2018 was played on Wednesday, May 23.
The daily prize winners were Marie Muriwai in division one, with a consistent net score of 73. Annette O’Connell returned to her good form to claim second place with a net score of 78.
Pauline Nash won division two with an impressive net score of 70, while Lyn Gibbs finished runner-up with 78.
Judi Hebbard won division three with another unbeaten net score of 77. Judy Love finished in second place with a score of 82.
Nearest-the-pin winners were Barbara Swain (division one) and Viv Thornett (division two)
Longest drive of the day went to Judi Hebbard in division three.
After totaling the three-days worth of scores, the Moruya Lady Singles Champions for 2018 are Jan Lumsden (division one), Noelene Cowdroy (division two), and Judi Hebbard (division three).
Catalina Ladies
The third and final round of the championship was played with 63/66 entrants.
