This means that both Paul and Rhonda, Daniel’s parents, have had to give up their jobs, causing considerable financial hardship for the family.
This has give the Moruya community a chance to do what it does best: getting together to help the Allards out.
Firstly, a gofundme page has been set up with an initial goal of $10,000 and there has been a huge response to that.
It can be found at www.gofundme.com/support-for-the-allard-family.
There will also be a huge fundraiser at the Adelaide Hotel on Friday, June 1, with the hope that the gofundme effort can be doubled.
The night will be based around a three course dinner, the Nashberries, and guest appearances from rugby league legends Wendell Sailor and Michael Weyman.
There will also be raffles, a 100 club, and sports memorabilia for sale. Tickets are $100, and can be purchased from the Adelaide Hotel, Moruya Commonwealth Bank, or Graham Scobie (0409 225 957).
The night will start at 6pm with the Nashberries playing in the beer garden from 9pm. Those unable to attend the dinner can come to the band for $20.
If anyone is unable to take part in the night and doesn’t have the internet to contribute to the gofundme campaign, they can deposit at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank into the All for Allard account set up for Daniel: BSB 062575 ACC 10244869.
