The number of participants was depleted as some of the regular attendees were competing in the full or half marathons at the Canberra Running Festival.
There were tourists from Menai, Goulburn, Gungahlin and England. Three people completed their first ever Parkrun.
We were delighted to welcome two visitors from the recently established Goulburn Parkrun, Mick and Angela Hookham.
They have embraced the spirit of parkrun as they encouraged other participants vocally during the event and ran with smiles on their faces.
Michelle Crawford was the first female finisher completing the five-kilometre course in a time of 22:23. Tim Cowley finished first overall in a time of 20:41. This was the first time Tim has been first across the line. ‘
It was another personal best for Tim who has been improving his speed since starting to attend Batemans Bay parkrun in January this year.
There were four other personal bests. Well done to Tim Cowley, Greg Humphries, John Fleming, Jessica Carew and Wendy Ezenham.
This free event was made possible the enthusiastic volunteers. Thank you to Kim Young, Robyn Kennedy, Yma Carnall, Garran Carnall, Tracy Denning, Victoria Hennig, Kenneth Cox and our adopted Parkrun dog.
New runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to join this weekly event. We meet every Saturday morning at 7.50am for the 8.00am start. The venue is Rotary Park near the Marina roundabout on Beach Road in Batemans Bay.
