The event, which launched this years South Coast Weddings magazine, showcased local providers in everything from fashion to food and fitness.

The expo was held at Corrigans Cove Resort, in Batehaven, and the highlight of the day was the fashion parade.

Featuring dresses of brides through the ages, as well as modern creations, the parade was the perfect opportunity to bring much-loved frocks out of retirement and into the spotlight for one last whirl.

Maureen Law was married in 1973, and enjoyed 43 years of marriage before she lost her husband, much loved and respected vet John Law, in 2016.

“I was never one for veils,” she said of her hooded lace gown.

“The dress was made in Sydney, and had to be taken in about three times because I kept losing weight.

“It was lovely to see it out again.”

Model Joanne Loader credited the success of the Law’s marriage to the woman in the dress. Mrs Law said the wedding itself was just one part of a long and happy relationship.

“We got married in the Nelligen Catholic Church.

“A lot of brides and grooms today make such a fuss about the wedding – our reception was at my house.”

Heidi Wade modelled her mum Maddison’s dress. Both women said it was a special occasion for their family.

“It felt awesome,” Mrs Wade said.

“She looked very beautiful. She did it proud.”

Mrs Wade was married 25 years ago, in March 1993.

Heidi said it was a “big honour” to model the gown.

Danielle Lord was another 1993 bride excited to see her wedding dress get another run.

“It was great – especially seeing somebody else who could fit into it,” she said.

Ms Lord said a fuss-free wedding had translated into a happy 25 years of marriage.

“I had no worries, my mum and sister did the whole wedding,” she said.

“That was the only thing I had to do, turn up to get it made. Mrs Hearn made it. It was very stress free.”
