South Coast MP Shelley Hancock took the cause to the NSW Parliament this week and thanked Fairfax Media for our campaign.
Stan Gorton’s powerful photograph above says it all.
It shows emergency crews at the scene of a fatal accident at Bodalla on April 27 last year. A car covered in a tarpaulin can be seen in the background. In the foreground, an RFS volunteer ponders a roadside memorial from a previous crash. Enough said.
There is $1.4 million worth of highway good news: the Federal Government has granted funds to fix the notorious intersection of the Princes Highway with Hector McWilliam Drive. The turn-off to Tuross Head has been the scene of too many crashes, as our story and picture below illustrate. We’re also getting $3.4 million for a roundabout at the intersection of George Bass Drive and Tomakin Road.
Much appreciated.
