Santa has delivered Moruya a new fishing platform in time for Christmas.
The platform is located on the Moruya river on the south-eastern side of the Moruya bridge.
The platform has been 100 per cent funded from the Recreational Fishing Trust and licence fees, which is managed by DPI Fisheries.
Tuross Head Fishing Club secretary Max Castle is a member of the NSW Fishing Advisory Council and has followed progress of the construction, courtesy of Eurobodalla Shire Council.
“The platform has been in the planning stage for some time and it is pleasing to see the council completing the project in time for the upcoming tourist season,” Mr Castle said.
“It is hoped the council will support more platforms as they improve fishing opportunity, provide easy access for families, especially children and those less mobile,” Mr Castle said.
“Materials use are low maintenance with the main structural steel component being galvanised..
He said the platform was cantilevered over the river bank providing easier access to the water helping to reduce snags on rocks, which are under the platform.
