As Creative Arts Batemans Bay Inc (CABBI) gear up for their 33rd Annual Art Exhibition and Sale, Exhibition Convenor Adrienne Conway has included Textile Art as a new category for the first time in 33 years.
“I am very excited that Textile Artists will be part of this exhibition,” Adrienne said.
“We have always had paintings, craft and sculpture, and now this new addition will really round off the exhibition.”
CABBI member, Hazel Hofmann, a textile artist for more than 10 years, has four entries for the new section.
For the first time, she can exhibit her beautiful and tactile works in CABBI’s art show.
“I am really pleased that I now have a platform to showcase my work,” Hazel said.
To welcome in the new category of Textile Art, Mischi West, founding member of the EFTAG group (Eurobodalla Fibre and Textile Artists Group), will be judging both the Textile Art and Craft categories.
With an extensive background in both craft and textile art, Mishi has previously been called upon to judge Revive Art shows and exhibitions by Montague Arts and Craft Society.
Don Talintyre and John Rice, both from the Kiama area, will be judging the categories of painting and sculpture.
Of the entries, Adrienne said, “We are seeing an increase in the number of entries across all categories, with 226 paintings, 15 tables of craft, 14 sculptures and 15 entries for Textile Art.”
The Official Opening night is Saturday, December 30, at 6pm at Batemans Bay High School.
