To celebrate Disability Awareness Week, Andrew Radford will exhibit photographs, paintings and sculptures featuring his beloved Mercedes Benz, at the Batemans Bay library, until December 23.
“I love my Mercedes Benz,” Mr Radford said.
“I have always loved cars. When I was small I used to take my matchbox car everywhere.”
Mr Radford did make a confession however.
“I used to like Holdens best,” he said.
“But I moved up to Mercedes – more style,” he laughed.
All of Mr Radford’s art features parts of cars. One work features a series of photos of different engine parts.
“I used an app on my phone to apply different effects to the photos,” he said.
Another work is a rubbing of tyre tread and a personalised number plate.
“It looks like an etching or lino-print. But its charcoal rubbing – like what kids do,” Mr Radford said.
Mr Radford works as a library assistant – “I like putting the books away, it’s a quiet area to work” – supported by The Disability Trust.
“I’ve been with the Disability Trust for 17 years. If I am learning a new library task, they help me with that.”
Mr Radford will talk about his exhibition, at the library, at 11am on Wednesday, December 6.
