Moruya Pigeon Racing Club is looking for new members to join the flock. The club was established five years ago and has six flying members.
We are seeking anyone interested in joining up, whether they are existing flyers or anyone new to the sport who wants to give it a try. The club will advise and help you along the way.
It's a great sport for men and women families, a sport you can do from your own backyard. It’s also a rewarding experience for children who being involved.
The pigeons are different from the ones in the park, they are a pedigree trained to race from the Race Point back to the loft as quick as possible.
They fly velocities from 600 metre per minute to 2500 metres per minute, over distances of 100km to 800km.
The racing season starts in May and goes through to the end of October. Breeding season is around November to early January.
After breeding and training a bird, it's an exhilarating feeling seeing your bird return home from Race Point.
