The Skirts beat the Shirts yet again this week. This seems to be an ongoing flogging and raises the point would the Club win more flags if Pennant was mixed like other states. The Men’s Club will be conducting two Ham and Turkey Days on Saturday 25 November and Wednesday 29 November. Games will commence at 10am in two game pairs and/or triples.
Congratulations to M. O'Bryan and A. Innes for winning the Club Mixed Pairs. Well done for a solid finish to the game. It's that time of the year again when selectors like to gauge both players in positions and team cohesion so check the board out for your name listed to play at Lake Conjola on Saturday, December 2, and at home the same day. Be mindful this is just a look so if you have any issues there will be an option to have a jousting contest (bring your own donkey and jousting stick) in car park later that day.
Remember: We have a great Bowls Club. You can either stand from a distance and lob stones, or be a team player who catches those stones and builds a foundation to stand high and see who's doing nothing but lobbing those stones. Bowl well. Stay down on the mat!

The final event on the Club Championship calendar has been decided with Peter Macdonald taking out the Consistency Singles. For the second year in a row John Monks has to be content with the runners up prize!
The semi finals were played on Saturday with both games following a very similar pattern. Peter Macdonald had a strong start in his clash with Jim Macklan dominating the early ends before Macklan found his range. By the 11th end the scores were locked at 55 all. The players traded ends for the next period of the game to be again even at 95 all after 19 ends.
At this point Macdonald managed to win five ends in a row to establish a match winning break of 131 to 109. In a game where the target is 150 it is hard to claw back the gap. Macdonald won his way into the final with a 152 – 127 victory.
John Monks played David Boon in the other semi final and also had a good start. He found his rhythm very quickly and set up a 52 – 28 lead after 8 ends before Boon fought back. By the 14th end the players were level at 70 all.
Like Macdonald, Monks then went on a spree to win the next 7 ends to establish a strong lead of 124 to 86. Again, while Boon fought back he was unable to bridge the margin with Monks winning 154 to 116.
Macdonald and Monks backed up on Sunday and found the greens a little slower as the effects of the rain took hold. The early ends were shared with Monks making the first significant move when he scored all 10 points on the 9th end. This gave him a 53 – 37 advantage.
Monks held the advantage until the 14th end when Macdonald picked up a 10 and followed it up with three more dominant ends to grab a 90 – 80 lead. This proved to be the turning point of the match. Macdonald grew in confidence and he managed to keep the lead.
Another 10 ‘pointer’ on the 25th end proved the clincher with Macdonald grabbing the title 153 – 127 on the 28th end. Macdonald’s effort really reflected the point of this format – on the day he was simply too consistent for Monks. He forced Monks to play low percentage shots that are great if they work but cause problems when they just miss.
Congratulations to Macdonald on a worthy win!
