The home side batted first on a soft pitch, but lost both openers early in a horror start.
Anthony Mortimer was the first to go for no score, and his captain Scott Fagerlund wasn’t far behind for two.
The two wickets left the Bay floundering at 2/5, and it wasn’t long before the pain continued.
Carl Lang and Zac Henstock provided a minor resistance, but their team-high partnership of 18 was broken when Lang was removed for two.
Henstock was joined at the crease by Sam Lee, but the former was gone himself six runs later for 13.
Lee and Matt Sethi provided another small pocket of resistance, putting on 16 runs for the fifth wicket.
Sethi ended up as the high scorer for the Bay, hitting two sixes in his innings of 24.
It didn’t take North Nowra long to clean up the tail after the wicket of Sethi, dismissing their opponents for 78 runs in just 22.3 overs.
Batemans Bay had only two batsmen in double figures, and only three with scores higher than five.
Hugh Gillen was the enforcer with the ball with figures of 5/33, while Ben Beck chipped in with 3/23.
It would take a miracle for the Bay to get a result out of this match, but they got an early sniff thanks to a first-over wicket to Josh Lee.
North Nowra would settle from that early wicket however, as Jack Carter and Lachlan Lamont guided them to victory.
Carter’s innings ended for 25 after a controversial LBW decision robbed him of the chance to see out the game.
North Nowra would reach the total of 79 in 18.4 overs, with Lamont bringing up his half century with the winning runs.
Batemans Bay captain Scott Fagerlund lamented his side’s performance.
“Terrible performance from us, but you get that,” he said. “You get some batting collapses, and we just couldn’t get out of this one.”
However, Fagerlund believes a first win is coming soon.
“I don’t think it’s too far around the corner,” he said.
“We’ve just got to try a bit harder and get players back on the field.”
Batemans Bay will travel north to play Berry-Shoalhaven Heads next Saturday, while North Nowra will host Ulladulla United.
