A 20-year-old Canberra driver had a disappointing end to his long weekend after being caught speeding and testing positive for alcohol – all without his P-plates displayed.
After 9pm on Monday, October 2, Batemans Bay highway patrol clocked a Toyota ute at more than 20km/hr over the speed limit on the Kings Highway at Nelligen.
The ute was stopped and the driver breath tested. He returned a positive reading for alcohol.
He was then arrested and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station.
At the station, he was given a field court attendance notice for; special range prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA); exceed speed greater than 20km/hr and no P-plates.
As part of Operation Slow Down, police have been targeting speeding offences over the long weekend period.

He will appear at Batemans Bay Local Court on 13 November 2017.
